With the teeth of the plates facing down, these brackets will stretch the metal in the case of an accident rather than cutting through it, which increases the pull out strength. You need to get no less that three of the four rear holes of the foldaway seat bracket and use all six plates if at all possible. The plates have two holes in them so that you have more mounting locations, either hole can be used.
