Magnetic Surfboard Rack — Most Common Questions (in Order)

1. Will it scratch or damage my van’s paint?

No. The magnets are fully encased in a soft rubber coating designed to protect your vehicle’s paint.
Just make sure both the magnet surface and the vehicle panel are free of sand or grit before mounting.

2. Is it secure? Will my board fall off?

Yes it's secure. When mounted on a clean, steel panel, the racks hold very securely during stationary use.
They’re designed to create a stable, confidence-inspiring place for your board while you’re changing, waxing, loading, or hanging out at your van.

3. Can I drive with the racks on?

No. The Magnetic Surfboard Racks are intended for stationary use only—at camp, in parking lots, or during pre- and post-surf moments.
They are not rated or designed for driving.

4. How much weight can the racks hold?

A pair of racks can easily support the weight of heavy longboards and most paddle boards during stationary use.
They’re built to handle far more than the weight of a typical surfboard without slipping when properly placed.

5. What vehicles does this work on?

The racks work on steel vehicles with mostly flat side panels, such as Sprinters, Transits, Econolines, and many steel-bodied vans and trucks.

Vehicles with large fender flares (like Jeep Wranglers) are not a good fit, as the flare interferes with how the board rests on the rack.

6. Will it work on aluminum or fiberglass vehicles?

No. The racks require steel body panels to work properly.
They will not work on aluminum or fiberglass vehicles.

7. What board thickness does it fit?

The standard rack fits boards up to 4 inches thick, which covers the vast majority of surfboards.

If you need it to fit a thicker paddle board (up to 6 inches), we can modify the rack by request.

8. Can it be used with wet boards or in the rain?

Yes. Wet boards and rainy conditions are no problem during stationary use.
The rubber-coated magnets maintain grip and won’t absorb water.

9. How easy is it to put on and remove?

Very easy. There’s no drilling, no tools, and no permanent hardware.
You place the racks when you arrive and remove them when you’re done—simple and fast.

10. What problem does this rack actually solve?

It protects your board during the moments when it’s most at risk:

• Changing in the parking lot

• Waxing or prepping

• Keeping boards off dirty pavement, rocks, or sand
  It creates a dedicated “safe zone” for your board right at your vehicle.

11. Is theft a concern?

Like any removable accessory, it’s best used when you’re nearby.
Most customers put the racks on when they arrive and take them off when they leave.

12. How durable are the racks long term?

They’re built for real surf and van life. Thick, rigid hooks paired with permanently rubber-coated magnets hold up to repeated use in salty, sandy, outdoor environments.
